Why football?
Football is hugely popular amongst young people in Cape Verde, Africa. You are never far from a barefoot kickabout with a makeshift ball on a dirt pitch. Football is therefore a great way to engage with young people regularly.

Cape Verde in Need’s aim is to provide a safe inclusive environment for children to develop.

We do this in two ways:
⚽️ We support newly formed football teams and associations with used previous season team kits, used boots and quality footballs. All of the football associations we work with provide support on a variety of projects within their communities including Social Inclusion, Crime prevention, drug/alcohol misuse, sexual education and support for ex-gang members.

⚽️ We also provide used unwanted football kit & boots to kids in the poorest areas and villages.

Our chairman Gus Gomes is an ex professional football player and fifa qualified coach. He currently coaching the under 13 team of Escorial, Sao Vicente Island. As such he has a strong knowledge of football and the impact it can make on young peoples lives. He also has some of the best contacts within the sport.

How you can help
If you or your team would like to donate any unwanted football kit, boots etc, we would be very grateful. Pease contact us to arrange for us to collect any donations you receive.

Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re always very grateful for any donations which will help to support the new teams and associations.
